WLI PRESENTS: TURNSTYLE - MAIN STREET JUST WENT UNDERGROUND
Add to Calendar Turn - At Columbus Circle 1000 8th Avenue New York, NY 10019
See Directions Tuesday, August 2, 2016 4:00PM - 4:30PM Registration (Members will meet outside Dylan’s Candy Store)
TurnStyle, the first privately financed retail marketplace within the NYC subway system, sets a model for public/private partnerships and transit retail. Four years in the making, TurnStyle features 39 food, beverage and retail shops, along with several creative upstarts growing their business. The design transforms the heavily traversed passageway at the Columbus Circle station into a vibrant public space for shopping, eating and gathering with features that intentionally defer to the existing infrastructure and reference classic subway ornament. The New York Time’s David Dunlap called TurnStyle a “small-scale evocation of a busy shopping street”.
Join ULI New York’s Women’s Leadership Initiative for a presentation followed by an opportunity to partake in one of three different tours being offered. Choose from tours exploring the Landlord Perspective, the Real Estate Deal and Finance, or the Design & Architecture stance. A networking reception will immediately follow at Steelcase. This event is open to ULI New York Members only.
TurnStyle is accessible on any corner of 57th and 58th Street & 8th Avenue. Proceed down to the mezzanine level where the program will begin at Dylan’s Candy Store.
