E-J Electric Installation was proud to have been selected for the completion of the electrical work for the upgrade of the Bowery Bay Water Pollution Control Plant. The project includes a $90 Million electrical component that was 12% complete when E-J took the project over for XL Surety, the Bonding company of the previous contractor. Included in the scope are medium voltage distribution, switchgear and substations spread over the 40-plus acre site and the conversion of the 208volt electrical distribution system to 480volt. Exacting specifications, a congested site and the necessity to keep the plant in operation, coupled with a demanding owner are some of the challenges that E-J Electric is overcoming on a daily basis.

E-J was chosen for our experience, reputation and engineering to perform the electrical installation at the, fifteen acre, Long Island Railroad's Hillside Car Maintenance Facility. This $22 million time and material contract teamed E-J Electric with the Long Island Railroad, the construction manager, and the engineer in developing the most cost efficient method to complete systems ranging from Robotics to train motion alarm systems. All cost savings were returned to the Long Island Railroad. Their confidence in us was demonstrated by their doubling the original scope of our contract to include the most complex systems.

Specialty items on the job included signal work, train motion detection systems, rail lighting, forty foot high industrial lighting, public address, security, and fire alarm systems, automatic temperature control multiplex system, automated material handling robotics system, conveyer system, certified broadband communication cable, and a complete DC power distribution system including traction, trolley and auxiliary power systems.

E-J was selected by the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey with only six months remaining to complete the World Trade Center Path Station (New York) side of this fast track project. E-J performed $22 million of work on the Path Station in six months to meet the project completion date. The work included lighting, power, fire alarm, heat tracing, HVAC control system, RF Emergency Antenna system, variable message signage, Closed Circuit Television Surveillance system, Passenger Emergency Telephone system, Motorman's Blue Light Telephone system, Passenger Information Display system, Corrosion Control system, Scada system, Traction Power system for the third rail, Public Address system and Uninterruptible Power Supply systems for this high usage Mass Transit railroad station. E-J is proud to make this first phase of reconstruction of the World Trade Center site a success.

The installation of state-of-the-art auditorium and theatre as final step in completing the country's leading Performing Arts High School. Work included all stage lighting, control systems, the installation of a 200kW generator to provide power to critical school loads, a fire alarm system and security installation.

The completion of this 55-story hotel, consisting of 150 hotel suites, two restaurants and one parking facility which E-J Electric was awarded after original contractor could not fulfill their obligation to builders. E-J was awarded the project at ten percent electrical completion and worked to meet the demands of a high-rise construction project.

Completion of all Transit Authority General Construction and electrical work on a $7 Million seven station NYC Transit rehabilitation project. Took over for Bonding company from defaulted general contractor. Work included meeting project budget and fast track completion schedule for customer. fire alarm, communications and lighting in each station were installed.

E-J was brought into this Peaking Plant project with only 8 weeks remaining when the existing contractor couldn’t perform. Florida Light & Power committed to sell electricity, with financial penalties if the date wasn’t met. E-J mobilized sixty electricians within two weeks, including engineering and project management staff. 8 week fast track installation of a Pratt Whitney FT-8 twinpack 50-megawatt, gas fired simple cycle peaking unit including turbines, site work, feeders and all associated balance of plant systems. These included de-mineralized water, CEM’s, SCR, gas compressor, oily water separators and switchgear from 120V to 69kV. In addition, E-J was also responsible for the installation of site lighting, heat trace, grounding lightning protection, cathodic protection, fire detection and protection, gas detection and all low voltage communication systems such as telephone, CAT 5 and fiber optic WAN/LAN Systems.

Completion of the entire electrical system at the Throgs Neck Bridge. The 5kV Substation furnished all power to the Throgs Neck Bridge, Operational Building, Toll Complex and Maintenance Facility. Safety requirements included boat patrol during working hours.

$4.5 million rehabilitation of major NYC Transit Authority Station in Brooklyn. Handled completion of all remaining general construction and electrical work for bonding company when previous general contractor went into bankruptcy.

Complex 625,000 sq. ft., 40-story new office building project across from Grand Central Station which E-J Electric was awarded when the original contractor forfeited their bond at 50% complete. All lighting, power, and Fire Alarm systems were included in the project. E-J met critical installation dates to insure a certificate of occupancy for the owner.

Completion contract covering upgrade power and lighting of Manhattan Bridge and installation of Traffic Control System.

Completion contract for Keyspan on Major retail/theatre project revitalizing Jamaica, New York. Fast-track 12-week installation peaked at 85 men in four weeks when Keyspan’s electrical division couldn’t perform. Substantial shared savings were earned through this teaming approach. Project included (3) 4000 amp services, feeder panels, branch lighting and power, fire alarm, telephone, MCC and motors for retail space, theater space and commercial garage. All violations were repaired to obtain electrical permit for entire work.

Fast track take-over project for bonding company of a multi-building fire alarm system installation. The Simplex fire alarm system was the final part of a new construction project required to obtain certificate of occupancy for the owners.

Completion of electrical work on JFK International Airport's Airtrain System included track lighting, signal, and station work. Airtrain is a ten station 8.4 mile automated, driverless, standard gauge steel rail system operating over an exclusive, mostly elevated guideway. Airtrain connects JFK Central Terminal Area consisting of six stations linking nine terminals to the Howard Beach Subway Station, Long Term Parking Station, Federal Circle Car Rental Station, and Jamaica LIRR/Subway Station.

General Contractor for the completion of default contract of PS 139 in Brooklyn. Masonry, roof, electrical and window repair work were included in the project scope.

Installation in theatre of data, communications, security, video, audio and dimmer light systems for America's Leading Community based arts organization. Brought aboard as completion contractor by the owner with six weeks remaining before sold out performances opened. Completed the project for opening night.

Installed 5kV overhead distribution on poles over the Arthur Kill Staten Island Landfill. E-J was brought on by the general contractor for our high voltage and completion work ability.

E-J was awarded a lump sum completion project by Colonia Insurance to replace the existing contractor. The bus maintenance and Service facility for the Department of Transportation consisted of central office and bus cleaning facility, refueling and total maintenance garage, CNG bus refueling plant, and outside lighting. The project included two complete buildings with separate 2000 Amp service and distribution including overhead distribution installation, connection and testing of all maintenance equipment, Public Address system, fire alarm system, security system, and lighting.
